Noura Mint Seymali, one of Mauritania’s musical stars, came to Chicago for two concerts over the past week: June 11 at the Square Roots Fest in Lincoln Square and June 14 at Millennium Park. I caught her set at Square Roots; her voice was beautiful to behold, and so was the sound of her instrument, the ardine, which is a sort of harp.
